BARRE-Monica Leel Zorzi, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, with her family by her side.
Monica was born April 28, 1932, in Barre, the daughter of the late Ena Savoie and Julliette Roy. She was raised and lived her entire life in Barre. Until the end, Monica maintained her kindness and expression of gratitude and love for family and friends. She loved playing cards, especially bridge (and Skip-Bo in her later years), music (Danny O’Donnell), dancing and she found great joy gathering with and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends.
Monica leaves behind her son Mitchell Leel (Patricia Wark Leel), her sister Mercedes Riley and her stepchildren Kerry (Jodi) Zorzi and Letitia (Gary) Hill along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband and the father of her children, Charles Leel; her twin daughters, Marcia Ellen and Monique; her second husband, Elgio Zorzi; and her siblings, Colette Carbonneau, Lorraine Cahall and Claude Savoie.
The family sends a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the many staff members at Woodridge Nursing Home who tenderly cared for Monica during her years there.
A Mass of Christian Burial, to honor and celebrate her life, will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11am at St. Monica Church in Barre with burial to follow at St. Monica’s Cemetery, Beckley Street, Barre.
There will be no calling hours.
