Heather L. Martin

BARRE-Heather L Martin, 41 of Barre, passed unexpectedly on April 27, 2024. Heather was born on October 10, 1982, in Berlin. She is the daughter of Bernard and Cheryl (Wright) Surprenant. She graduated from Spauling High School in 2001 and spent most of her career as an LNA. Heather enjoyed photography. She was always behind the camera taking pictures. Heather enjoyed going on adventures with her three children and fur babies- they were her pride and joy. Heather was an avid scrapbooker. She loved watching movies and going to concerts. She was always planning something such as; hiking, kayaking, and camping. Anyone who knew Heather knows how important making memories with her loved ones were. Family and friends were everything to her. Heather also found joy in helping others in need. Especially, during the flood in July 2023. She spent her days and nights helping businesses and residents clean up. Survivors include her parents, Cheryl and Bernard Surprenant of South Burlington; two sons, Addison and Gavin O’Connor, both of Barre; brothers, Michael Martin of Jacksonville, Florida, Brandon (Brandy) Surprenant, Aaron (Lille) Surprenant, Shaun Martin of Maine; sisters, Jennifer (Edmund) Makowski of Altamont, New York, Crystal Martin of Maine; nieces, Cassidy Makowski, Isabella and Peyton Surprenant; nephews, Tanner and Tyler Makowski, Isaiah and Russell Surprenant; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; her beloved fur babies, Jake and Rue; closest cousins Danielle and Rachel, as well as her best friends of many years, Alyssa and Jana. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kenzy Martin on April 27, 2024; sister Alexis Surprenant; biological father, Michael Martin Sr; grandparents, Therese Surprenant, Jack Wright, and Ed Martin; Uncle Guy Surprenant Heather’s celebration of life will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Old Labor Hall in Barre. We are choosing to honor Heather with donations to the Central Vermont Humane Society, 1589 VT Route 14 S, East Montpelier, VT 05651 rather than flowers. Arrangements are in the care of Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer Street in Barre.
