Joyce E. Blouin

BARRE TOWN – Joyce E. Blouin, 93, of Lepage Road in Barre Town, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin surrounded by her children. Born in Graniteville on April 24, 1931, she was the daughter of Eleanor and Raymond Craige. She had 2 sisters, Muriel (Carpenter) Goyette, Beverly Gavin, and 1 brother, Raymond Craige Jr. Joyce attended graded school in Graniteville and later graduated from Spaulding High School. On April 22, 1950, she married Roger Blouin at St. Sylvesters Church in Graniteville. They resided in Graniteville and then moved to Lepage Road in Barre Town. Joyce later moved to The Mayo Residential Care in Northfield on 4/1/2020. She always had good caring neighbors wherever she resided. She worked at various places: Grants, The Capacitor Plant, Howards Market, and Price Chopper. She was a hard worker and would set her clocks ahead by 10 minutes to be sure she was never late. Her special interests include listening to music, playing the piano, which she had a special talent for as it mostly was by ear. Joyce and her husband would often get together with neighbors and friends to play cards and they would often request for her to play the piano. She was also known to have a green thumb, as her plants were beautiful. She enjoyed dancing and it was a must for her to go dancing on the weekends. She was also specially known for her baked beans, this was always a request at the family reunions, as well as other occasions. While living in Graniteville, she and a neighbor would often play horseshoes, a competition between the wives and husbands and at times the wives won. Survivors include their four children and spouses; David Blouin (Beth) of Weare, NH, Bonnie (Bruce/Moose) Perry of Barre Town, Ronald (Bonnie) Blouin of Websterville, Raymond (Kathy) Blouin of Barre Town. She was also survived by 18 grandchildren and their spouses; Bryan Perry of South Burlington, Keith (Vanessa) Perry of Barre Town, Jaime Blouin (Kelly Benoit) of Barre, Tyson (Becky) Blouin of Williamstown, Caitlin Blouin (Mark Kapp) of Florida, Matthew (Jennifer) Blouin of Weare, NH, Analise (Josh) Cyr, of Weare, NH; Jordan (Meagan) Shea of Utah, Katie (Matt) Smith of Arizona, Natalie (Nolan) Hurley of St. Albans. She also had 11 great grandchildren: Leland Perry, Mackenzie Perry, Danika Perry, Parker Benoit, Kaylie Blouin, Kendal Blouin, Palmer Blouin, Bailey Shea, Brandon Shea, Madison Hurley, and Rena Smith. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Pauline Redmond, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce was a member of St. Monica Church in Barre. Mayo Health Care of Northfield was a special place for Joyce where she had made several friends and participated in many activities. She was well taken care of at Mayo, as the staff was incredible with her needs. She enjoyed her visits with her children and having coffee with them along with her favorite donut holes. She was known for her sweet tooth. Her children would often surprise her with homemade goodies along with her favorite chocolates. Her birthday in April was always a special celebration, as her children would bring her favorite meal, baked beans, Johnny cake and carrot cake. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, a brother, her husband, and 2 sisters. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on May 17, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Monica Church in Barre with no calling hours. Burial will follow at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 10 in Barre (where Joyce and Roger often danced most Saturday nights).
