Margaret Elsie Cushing

SPRINGFIELD/BARRE – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Margaret Elsie Cushing (Conner), 92, of Springfield, VT, and formerly of Barre, VT. She was born April 5, 1931, in Newport, VT, to George Conner and Julia Flanders and was the youngest of 3 children. She married Ronald Cushing Sr. on August 6, 1950, and was married for 46 years before his passing on February 8, 1996. Margaret lived mostly in the Barre and Washington area. She was employed by Sprague Electric in Barre until they closed, and then she worked at Capital Candy until she retired in 1995. After her retirement, she became a mental health provider until she retired from that in 2010. Margarets true passion came from playing Bingo, watching the Boston Red Sox, and spending time with her family who she loved dearly. Margaret is survived by 7 of her 9 children, George (Evelyn) Cushing of Plainfield, VT, Ronald (Sylvia) Cushing Jr. of Websterville, VT, Donna (Michael) Barrett of Greenfield, MA, Kevin (Vince) Stridsberg of Newbury, VT, Gail (Stewart) Shute of Springfield, VT, John (Sandra) Cushing of Barre, VT, and Peggy (Cory Hollcraft) Bosley of Springfield, VT, as well as 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret is predeceased by her parents, her husband Ronald Cushing, her sister Helen Taylor, her brother Robert Conner, and her two sons, Clyde Gilbert Cushing, and Sidney Earl Cushing. May God bless our mother. We love you and we miss you. Calling hours will be from 6-8 pm on Sunday, October 29,2023 at Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer Street in Barre. Extra parking is available across the street in St. Monica Church Parking lot. Funeral services will be held at Enough Ministries, 24 Washington Street in Barre, at 11:00 am on Monday, October 30, 2023. The burial will follow to Fairview Cemetery in East Calais, VT. There will also be a light luncheon and time for sharing in the fellowship hall at the church from 1-2:30 PM. Reverend Mauricio Martins will officiate the service.
