WILLIAMSTOWN - A. Eugene Wasik passed away on October 13, 2024, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care. He was born April 23, 1936, in Rutland, Vermont to Albert and Sophia Wasik. Gene was staunchly proud of his Polish heritage and enjoyed speaking Polish, traditional foods and was an excellent polka dancer. He attended West Rutland High School and maintained lifetime friendships. He served in the U.S. Army, attended Boston University to become an undertaker, then Castleton College to earn a degree in Education. He earned his M.A. of Education at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). He worked as a teacher at Mt. Holly and Proctor, as a guidance counselor in Melbourne, Florida and then the Montpelier school system until he retired.
Gene was happiest playing golf with his wife Kathy (especially when in South Carolina avoiding Vermont winters), spending time with and supporting his grandchildren Parker and Avery, mowing his lawn, watching sports and loving his very good dog, Kit. He...
