WILLIAMSTOWN – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Canas. He was born April 21, 1937, and passed on January 23, 2026. “Alex” as he was known by friends and family passed away after a long illness.

Alex was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and family man. He and his family loved to travel and did so frequently. As a family they enjoyed camping, snowmachining, motorcycle rides, and four-wheeling.

Alex proudly served in the Navy for four years. He was a cherished member of his community and spent a number of years working for the Barre Fire Department and as an EMT.

Alex was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn, and his son Ricky.

Alex is survived by his sons James Canas and Jeffrey (Bernie) Canas, granddaughter Stacey Canas, brother Servando (Carol) Canas, and nieces Susan Canas Gregoire, and Kathryn Canas.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on July 31, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Hope Cemetery in Barre.
