Ann Chase

WEBSTERVILLE – Ann “Rebel” (Bayne) Chase, born November 12, 1934, passed away peacefully in Hospice Care at the Four Seasons assisted living facility in Northfield, VT, on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Ann was born and raised in Ozark, Alabama, to Dewitt and Edna Bayne. Ann was a lifelong resident of Websterville, VT, where she shared a home with Raymond “Mutt” Chase Sr. who predeceased her on January 7, 2016. Ann met Ray at a roller-skating rink when Ray was stationed at Fort Rucker Army base. Ray was smitten by this southern belle and they were married April 30, 1955. They spent the next six years living in Ozark raising two boys, Donnie and Ray Jr, and a girl Anita. Ann and Ray then moved back to Vermont adding another girl, Debbie, and two more boys, David and Gary to the mix. Rebels and Yankees living under the same roof, oh my! Ann spent most of her adult life as a homemaker. Taking care of six kids, seven if you include Ray, was a full-time job. Mom loved to cook and made the best sweet tea, potato salad, and cornbread. Anybody that knew Ann knew she loved Alabama Football, hence all of her children did too. There was no choice in the matter. We will carry on that legacy! ROLL TIDE ROLL! Ann was a member of the VFW Post 790 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary for many years. She was always involved alongside Ray at many of their functions. Ann is survived by her children Donnie and Judy Chase, Raymond (Ike) Chase Jr., Debbie and Randy Smith, David Chase, and Gary Chase. Ann is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear sister Marge Boom Schmitz, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Anita Ann in 2014, her parents D.T. and Edna Bayne, sisters Louise, Lucille, Christina, Elizabeth, and brother Bob. An inurnment will take place at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, VT, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Ray on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00 am. There will be a celebration of life following at the VFW Post 790 Auxiliary in East Barre at 1:00 pm.
