BERLIN-Charlotte Mitchell was born on November 15, 1948, in Rutland, Vermont, and passed away on October 1, 2026, in Berlin, Vermont.

Charlotte grew up on her family’s farm in Poultney, Vermont, where she also attended school. She spent most of her life in Williamstown, Vermont, lived in Iowa for 20 years, and eventually returned to Vermont, settling in Berlin.

She was the daughter of Ada Shackett Bellavance and Charles Forest Thomas and was also raised by her stepfather, Paul Bellavance.

Charlotte worked at The Wayside Restaurant, Bakery & Creamery for more than 30 years, where she became a familiar face to many customers and coworkers.

She enjoyed being at home, baking, a cup of tea, playing cards, and caring for the many cats she had over the years. Her most recent companion was her cat, Blackjack.

Charlotte is survived by her brother, Charles Thomas; nieces Lindsey and Nichole; nephews Anthony and Raymond; and numerous cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Faye Taylor, and her favorite aunt, Fern.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Barre Elks Club.

Charlotte will be remembered by her family, friends, former coworkers, and all those who knew her.
