GRANITEVILLE-Eleanor Dalton of Graniteville Vermont passed away on December 14, 2025 at age 93. She was born July 18, 1932 to Lillian (LaCount) Corliss and Glenn Corliss, and was raised mainly in Central Vermont. She graduated from Montpelier High School. Eleanor was married to James Dalton Sr, and they had a son James Dalton Jr, before divorcing. Though both stayed in his life until “Big Jim's” passing.

Eleanor worked many jobs, mainly in factory and retail. She most notably worked in Brown's Pharmacy of Montpelier and often spoke fondly of both the job and Mr. Brown. She also lived with and cared for her mother Lillian until her passing in 1988. After struggling during the depression, she took great care to make sure none of her loved ones went hungry. Her family was her greatest joy and she loved to dote upon her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her son.

She leaves behind her grandchildren, Natira Chaloux of Dover, NH, Jolene Coolidge and her husband Alex of Williamstown, Lindsey Crader and her husband Dale of Barre, Thaddeus Dalton and his partner Freedom Dukette of Websterville. Her great grandchildren, Shawn Chaloux, Brandon Burns, Natasha Crader, Celsey Podgwaite, Lydia Dalton and Trip Crader. She also leaves behind her son's beloved dog Harley.

Eleanor was predeceased by her mother Lillian Corliss, her father Glenn Corliss, her brother Benjamin Corliss, and her son, James Dalton Jr. as well as many friends and schoolmates.

A private burial will be held at a later date for the immediate family. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association
