BARRE - Gail Haven Fondry, 75, of Barre, Vermont, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 17, 1950, in Barre, she was the beloved daughter of Constance Fondry and John Fondry.
Gail was a proud graduate of Spaulding High School. She went on to marry the love of her life, Bart Foster, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. Gail and Bart shared an entrepreneurial spirit, opening several restaurants along the East Coast before returning home to Vermont to establish the beloved The Dugout Restaurant, where they welcomed friends and neighbors like family.
In addition to her work in the restaurant business, Gail spent 15 years working at the East Barre Antique Mall, a place that perfectly reflected her love for antiques and hidden treasures.
Gail found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved drawing, reading, and “yardsaling,” always on the hunt for a special find. She enjoyed small weekly get togethers with a small tight knit group of friends. Above all else, she cherished time spent with the lights of her life: her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and deepest pride.
She is survived by two siblings, two children Sara Fantoni and Joshua Foster, two grandchildren Elisa Fantoni and Abby Fantoni, two great-grandchildren Haven Qua and Dillon Qua, and her two loving companions, her dogs, Bean and Little Man.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Gail’s life will be held in the spring, where family and friends will gather to honor the woman who was truly the heart of her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, strength, creativity, and unwavering love.
Arrangements are in the care of Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St. in Barre.
