BARRE - George P. Drew, 90, passed peacefully into the loving arms of God on June 10, 2024, surrounded by the love and care of his family.
He was born in Lyndonville, Vermont, on May 16th, 1934, the oldest of three children of Ann and Clifton Drew. George was predeceased by his parents, his sister-in-law, Clare Drew, and his cousins, Jean Wisnowski and Jane Daisy, and his childhood friends, Lloyd Berry and Leon Gilman.
In his youth, his family owned the Gem Theater, where he ran the projector while his brother sold popcorn and his sister took the tickets. They held amateur nights where his younger brother and sister performed dance routines.
When the Fair came to town he raced around the track on his pinto pony, Prince, leaving all the bigger horses and riders in his dust. Without unforeseeable mishaps (involving open gates and manure piles), they would have won!
