Gloria M. Duprey

MIDDLESEX - Gloria Murray Duprey of Middlesex died peacefully at home on April 12th, 2026.

Born Gloria Louise Murray to parents Tylea Mae Poulen and Nelson Edward Murray at Heaton Hospital in Barre Vermont.

Gloria graduated with honors from Montpelier High School in 1965. She met her husband Richard W. Duprey while volunteering for the Middlesex fire department. They married on November 1st, 1985. She worked for the USDA until the birth of their first daughter where she then became a stay-at-home mother. She started working at Grand Union in Montpelier when the kids got older. She worked at the now named Shaw's in Montpelier until her retirement in 2016.

She enjoyed starting her day with two cups of coffee and her crossword puzzles while perusing the local obituaries to make sure "I'm not in here" Sorry Mom; today you are. She filled her days watching Westerns, enjoying her animals, her hummingbird feeder and getting grandchildren snuggles.

Predeceased by her parents, her husband and two brothers. She is survived by her youngest brother Nelson Murray, her daughters Katelyn Duprey and Kimberly (Duprey) Chapman and her grandchildren Violet Louise and Lucian Timothy Chapman.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 22 from 4-6 pm at Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre. Graveside burial to follow on May 3rd at 11:00 am at Maplewood Cemetery in Barre.
