Dec 12, 1975 — Nov 4, 2026
East Barre
Sunday
Gregory Allen West, age 50, of Barre, Vermont, passed away on November 4th, 2026.
Born on December 12, 1975, in Barre, Vermont, Greg was the son of Ron and Lillian West. After graduating from high school, Greg proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning his military service at a young age. His time in the Navy was an important part of his life and something that will always be remembered as part of his story. Throughout his life, he was known for his incredible sense of humor, his big personality, and his ability to make friends wherever he went.
Greg was truly one of a kind. He was funny, outgoing, and never met a stranger. He had a way of making people laugh, bringing people together, and making everyone feel like a friend. Whether through his jokes, stories, or simply being himself, he left an impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He enjoyed golfing, being with his loved ones, volunteering at his local Barre VFW Post 790 and Elks 1535 and having a cold beer. Some of his favorite things in life were his daughter Alyssa, whom he often described as “the one thing he did right”, his family, the Buffalo Bills, and cold Bud Light.
Above all, Greg loved his family and friends. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Alyssa West, along with a large extended family and countless friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.
He was predeceased by his father, Ron West, and mother, Lillian West.
He will be remembered for his jokes, his helping hand to a friend in need, his very impressive knowledge of trivia questions, his love for a boisterous good time, cheerful smile, and a sizable contribution to Budweiser over his life that was cut short too soon.
The stories, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will continue to bring smiles to those who loved him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held on Sunday, November 8th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 790 in East Barre, Vermont. Family and friends are welcome to come together to share memories and celebrate his life. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity Homes for Veterans in his name, or that you simply honor his memory by sharing a story, remembering a laugh, or doing something kind for someone else.
