EAST BARRE- Howard “Spike” B. Anderson, 70, a longtime resident of East Barre, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, with his family by his side after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 24, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Howard served in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Air Station in Atlanta before working as a foreman at Atlas Railroad Company. On September 11, 1984, he married Judith and together they built and operated The Sewing Basket for the past 40 years. A hardworking man, he found great joy in spending time in the woods at his sugarhouse, Turkey Hill Maple Farm.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters Rebecca Deane (Caleb) and Heather Pierce (Glenn); and grandchildren Elizabeth, Tyler, Ethan, Gavin, and Erin. He is also survived by his brothers Glenn Rudolph and Leonard “Shorty” Anderson and sisters Judy Flasher, Barbara Sironi, and Mandy Loyd.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Doris Anderson; sister Kathy Campbell; and brother Scott Anderson.
