BERLIN, VT - Joseph Étienne Ronald Landry passed away peacefully February 20, 2024, with his family at his side. Joe was born on December 22, 1933, in Berlin, NH, to Alfred and Alma (Carrier) Landry. He was known as Ronald to early friends and family.
After graduating from Berlin High School, Joe worked in logging camps in Coos County, then joined the U.S. Air Force. He repaired and maintained aircraft, primarily the F-86 Sabre, and received an honorable discharge as staff sergeant. He sustained a lifelong interest in military aircraft. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1961 and received his professional engineer certification from Yale University.
Briefly employed with the Federal Aviation Administration in New York, Joe then transitioned to a career with the Vermont Agency of Transportation, surveying highway construction sites, including extending I-89 through Richmond.
