Lise T. Simoneau

BARRE - Lise T. (Gilbert) Simoneau of Barre, Vermont, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 25th, 2025. Lise was born May 3rd, 1953, to Andre and Yvette (Maheux) Gilbert in Coaticook, QC, the oldest of 6 children. Lise started work at the Country House restaurant in Barre, but she spent the majority of her life as a caregiver for over 25 years. From taking care of her siblings in early years, to taking care of the elderly at her community care home. She ran the business on Averill St. alongside her husband, Maurice J. Simoneau Sr., son of Leo Simoneau & Marie-Ange (Lacroix). The two were married March 11, 1972, at St. Monica Church in Barre. They made Barre, Vermont their home and raised two sons, Maurice Simoneau Jr.; and Paul Simoneau. Lise will be remembered for her big heart and her kindness. She loved her family dearly, especially her children and grandchildren. Lise enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She was a source of comfort and guidance, a steady hand, the voice of reason, and the heart of her family. She enjoyed gardening, watching wildlife, and feeding her beloved birds. Some of her favorite pastimes were watching the Boston Bruins, Professional Wrestling, or NASCAR (Kyle Busch). She loved doing puzzles in her free time, also adored Elvis and his music. Lise is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Maurice J. Simoneau Sr, son Maurice Simoneau Jr. & wife Renee (Osterberg), son Paul Simoneau & wife Jordan (Singer); Grandchildren Evan, Aiden, Ella, Alayna, and Evelyn, whom she loved and cherished with all of her heart. Sister to Francine (Marty Shannon), Diane (Tim Pickle), Denise (Chipper LeClair), Richard Gilbert (Tina) and Robert Gilbert (Sheila) Sister-in-law to: Clement Simoneau (Rita Richard), Camille Simoneau (friend Francine Gamache), Mariette Simoneau (Auguste Doucette), Roger Simoneau (Margot Lachapelle), Marie-Claire Simoneau, Lisette Simoneau (Marcel Doyon). Even though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her family and those lucky enough to know and love her. A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate Lise’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at St. Monica’s Church, 79 Summer Street in Barre at 11am. Reception to follow at the Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite Street in Barre. There will be calling hours from 5-7pm on Friday, March 7th, 2025, at Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home.
