Lorraine F. Mielniczuk

St. Albans, VT – With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lorraine F. Mielniczuk, who passed away peacefully with her loving daughters by her side on July 30, 2026. A woman of quiet strength and wisdom, she lived a life defined by her love of reading, which was second only to her deep and profound love of family.

Born in New Britain, CT on February 06, 1940, to the late Anthony and Jean Fusaro, she came from humble beginnings. On April 30, 1960, she married the love of her life, William Mielniczuk, Sr. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of deep devotion and partnership. In 1968, they made their way to Vermont to raise their family, eventually settling in Barre. Lorraine dedicated her life to creating a warm, welcoming home filled with love and laughter, where she often extended a meal for many to join her family for Sunday dinners. Her heart for service extended beyond her own table; her volunteer work included supporting local soup kitchens and preparing meals for those less fortunate during the holiday season and continued contributions to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Lorraine worked in Barre for nearly 20 years at the Granite Bank, and later worked in the hotel industry for various Inns to include both the Comfort Inn and Day's Inn in Barre, as well as the Inn at Montpelier, located in the state capital of Montpelier, VT.

Lorraine was incredibly smart and the undisputed Scrabble champion for those brave enough for the challenge. Extremely well read, Lorraine belonged to several book clubs over the years, sharing meaningful conversation and revealing new views on a story. Lorraine could often be found rattling off the answers to her nightly viewing of Jeopardy and would revel in the joy of knowing the final jeopardy question. She also had an incredible sense of humor and loved all kinds of music ranging from opera to top current hits.

Lorraine had a rare gift for connection and truly was everyone's best friend. Those fortunate enough to belong to Lorraine’s inner circle knew she was a true confidante and a profound source of comfort and guidance in times of need. She lived her life guided by deep-rooted values, paired with an unrivaled stubbornness that was truly legendary. She will be remembered fondly for her unwavering spirit, her fierce loyalty, and her principled heart.

She is survived by her children, William Mielniczuk, Jr. and his wife Terri of Pensacola, FL, Susan Wing and her husband Jon of Milton, VT, and Alicia Clark and her husband Lyndon of Lake Wylie, SC.

She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Daniel Clark and his wife Jessica of Georgetown, TX, Emma Preston and her husband Will of Midland, TX, Evan Wing of Dallas, TX; as well as her step-granddaughter, Holly Suprise and her family of Pensacola, FL. In addition, Lorraine leaves behind her four precious great-grandchildren, Sofia, Ainsley, Eva, and Baker.

Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Mielniczuk, Sr., with whom she is now peacefully reunited. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Ted Fusaro and Ron Fusaro, both of New Britain, CT.

Visitation hours will be held on August 10th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, located at 58 Summer Street in Barre, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following day at 11:00am at St. Monica Parish, 79 Summer Street in Barre, VT.
