WASHINGTON – Michael Jankura Jr., 78, of Washington, passed away on January 11, 2024, at his home. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, and graduated from Bunnell High school before deciding to serve his country.
He was a decorated Navy veteran who received a National Defense Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 3 Bronze Stars and the Marine Commendation Medal. He was also the radio operator on the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). Michael was also the Superintendent of Vista Towers in Stamford, CT, for many years and proudly helped build the Sikorsky Memorial Bridge in Stratford, CT.
Michael was known as a generous, loyal, and loving man who would lend a hand to anyone and give the best advice. He loved adventures on his motorcycles, especially with his wife Tami.
