BARRE-Rachel M. Barcomb (Pouliot), 83 of Barre passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, VT with her family at her bedside.

Born in Barre on April 10, 1943, she was the daughter of Amidee and Irene Pouliot.

Rachel attended Barre City schools and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, class of 1961.

On May 9, 1964, she married Jerry Barcomb at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. They resided in Barre until 1973 when they moved to Hyde Park, Vermont where they owned and operated Barcomb Stationers in Morrisville until 1983, when they returned to Barre where they made their home.

Rachel was employed for 25 years as a bookkeeper for Pouliot & Corriveau, until her retirement in 2011.

She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church.

Among her interests were dancing, cooking, playing cards with friends and she enjoyed camping in North Carolina and Virginia Beach. She also enjoyed spending precious time with her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include four children, Robert Barcomb and his wife, Shenna, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Robin Pembroke and her husband Todd, of Montpelier, Vermont, Debbie Flynn and her husband, Tim, of Morgan, Vermont; Don Barcomb and his wife, Tamara, of Statesville, North Carolina, as well as 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Pouliot and his wife Anna Rose of Williamstown, Vermont and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre.

Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Burial will follow the Mass at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Barre, Vermont.

Contributions in Rachel’s memory, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Bayada Home Health in Chittenden County.
