BARRE - Rene H. Dessureau, 89, passed away on November 23, 2025, at his home with family by his side. Born in Barre, VT on April 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Louis and Simonne Dessureau. Rene attended school at St. Monica Catholic School and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, class of 1955. Rene joined the Air Force where he proudly served for over ten years. On February 12, 1971, he married his wife Roberta and they made their home in Barre, VT and then in 1985 moved to Lake Mary, FL. Rene worked for Sprague Electric in Barre, VT and then for Dearborne Electronics in Longwood, FL before retiring. Rene enjoyed traveling with his wife and visited many places in the United States and Europe. He loved music, composed poems and other writings, enjoyed photography, and painting. He was also known for his generosity and great sense of humor. What gave him the most joy was spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Roberta Dessureau, his stepson, Duane (Donna) Gingras of Williamstown, VT and his stepdaughter, Lisa (Elliott) Toney of Lake Mary, FL, his grandchildren Nathan (Ali) Gingras of Williston, VT, Megan Gingras of Northfield, VT and Jenna (Bryan) Turner of Geneva, FL, and his great grandchildren, Callen Turner, Addison Gingras and Jack Gingras. He also leaves behind his sister Claire; his brothers Andre, Dennis and Robin Dessureau; his sister-in-law Joan Hart and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michel Dessureau, his brothers Marcel, Fernand, Camil and Paul Dessureau and his sisters, Denyse Geake and Michele Patoine. A mass and celebration of his life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 11am, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre, VT with burial following in Hope Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
