Shirley Marie Bennett-Bill

BARRE - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Marie Bennett-Bill, who left us on March 9, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 5, 1956, in Thetford Mines, Quebec Canada. At the age of four, Shirley moved to Vermont with her family where she grew up making loving memories and developed many lasting friendships. In 1974 Shirley graduated from Spaulding High School where she demonstrated remarkable ambition towards earning recognition as Future Business Leader at the age of 15, which led her down the path to begin her career at National Life where she remained for 37 years. She earned the respect of her co-workers and formed lasting relationships; all testament to her dedication and work ethic. She fondly remembered her summers spent at her Aunt Louise and Uncle Gerry’s home in Stoneham, Quebec where she spent time swimming at the river, gathering with the neighborhood kids, and having countless adventures in the many vacant local barns. An avid hockey fan, Shirley enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams and attending races at Thunder Road. Shirley had an artistic side which shone through in her drawings, crafts, stenciling, and painting. She loved horses, music and social gatherings. She often could be found at a Bill family Kitchen Junket or enjoying Scottish music and joining in on the chorus! Above all, Shirley was devoted to her family; she valued the relationships with her parents and siblings. Her step-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great joy in nurturing and supporting them. Shirley’s warmth, kindness and silly character will be deeply missed by them. She was predeceased by her parents Jeffery and Suzanne (Corriveau) Bennett, her sister Nancy, and her husband Kenneth Bill. She will be sadly missed and leaves to mourn her siblings: Sharon of Santee, CA, Bradon and his wife Wanda of Williamstown, Dennis and his wife Martha of Essex Junction, Lori and her husband Marc of Graniteville, 10 nieces and nephews, 7 great nieces and nephews, 10 stepchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins and friends. A special thank you to her dear friends Darlene and John who were ever present. Rest in Peace Shirely, your memory will live on through all those you touched. A graveside service will be held on May 24, 2025 @ 11:00 am at St. Sylvester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to the American Wild Horse Conservation @ amerciawildhorse.org Arrangements are in the care of Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St. in Barre.
