BARRE-Timothy S Bragg, aged 64, of Barre VT, passed away on August 1 2026 at his apartment, after a short illness.
As a child Tim moved from Waitsfield with his family to East Montpelier. He was one of seven children born to Virginia and Robert Bragg Sr, the second from the youngest of this farm family. He graduated in 1979 from U-32 and worked at Bombardier from 1983 – 1985. He moved to Florida in his mid-20s to follow his interest in music. It was there that he received a traumatic brain injury that transformed his life.
Through the coordinated help of Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Governor Lawton Chiles of Florida, Tim was transferred to Lenny Burke’s Farm in Wallingford Vermont, where he received support until 2022 when he moved to Barre and became a client of Choice TBI Support Services.
Tim once said, “I was born for this injury!”, meaning his lifelong habits of extreme attention to detail enabled him to live independently through rigid adherence to routine and to meticulous record keeping. Tim walked daily around Barre and was a familiar sight in all weather, a tall, purposeful walker, his dramatic mullet making him look like an aging Rod Stewart. He made many enthusiastic acquaintances along his route, neighbors, shopkeepers, and staff at Beverage Baron. He would give a thumb’s up, the peace sign, or a friendly word and then be on his way.
Tim was intelligent, opinionated, stubborn, but also articulate and witty, a fast talker who laughed often. He was a devoted musician, a singer and a cartoonist. His favorite bands were the Beatles especially Paul McCartney, Journey, Judas Priest, and Pink Floyd.
Survivors include his sister Debra Curtis and her husband Richard Curtis, of East Montpelier; brothers, Robert Bragg Jr and his wife Martha Fitch of Montpelier, Douglas Bragg and his wife Barbara LeGrand-Bragg of East Montpelier, Richard Bragg of East Barre and Stephen Bragg and his wife Sherry Lee Bragg of Tuscon, Arizona. Tim is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Mark Bragg, his father Robert Bragg and mother Virginia Bragg and sister-in-law, Valerie Bragg.
The family would like to thank Choice TBI and especially Leslie Paye who succeeded in winning Tim’s trust and affection and who was able to patiently “hang in” to give him the support he needed.
A celebration of life will be held September 8 at 1:00 at Pruneau Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St, Barre VT, and burial to follow at Plainmont Cemetery in Plainfield VT.
Donations in Tim’s name can be made to the Brain Injury Association of America, Vermont Chapter, to Lenny Burkes Farm, or to Choice TBI Support Services.
