Winston L. Chase

BARRE CITY - Winston (Winky) Lucius Chase, 73, of Short Street, died Monday, October 2, 2023, at home with his partner, Sandra Pond, by his side. Born December 30, 1949, to Nelson Gordon Chase and Lola Inez (Toby) Chase. He attended school at Maple Corners Elementary in Calais and Woodbury School. Winston (Winky) married Jolene Houghton on September 28, 1974. They were married for 28 years before parting ways. During their marriage they made their family in Barre City and later in Montpelier. Together they raised their two sons, Shawn and Eric. In his younger years, Winky was employed at Smith, Whitcomb, and Cook, then at Rock of Ages from 1989 to 2006, where he retired. Winky began attending the First Presbyterian Church on Seminary St. with his partner Sandra and was later baptized. Winky made many friends through his faith and church services.
